Superpipe Opens at Boreal Mountain Resort;
California’s First and Only Superpipe To Open This Winter

Donner Summit, CA… Boreal Mountain Resort announced today that its marquee terrain park feature, the superpipe, will open for skiing and snowboarding Friday, December 14th possibly as early as 3:30pm. Located on Race Course Run and accessible via the Accelerator High Speed Quad chairlift, Boreal Mountain Resort currently offers California’s first and only superpipe for winter 07/08.

Boreal has gained a reputation for providing a superpipe with spot-on specs. 450’ in length, 18.5’ high walls and a consistent slope grade of 15 degrees qualifies Boreal’s superpipe as an Olympic-caliber terrain park feature. Opening Boreal’s superpipe on December 14th marks a full 30 days earlier than its opening last winter. Despite low natural snowfall early this winter, Boreal has been able to make snow with dedicated conviction throughout the last two weeks of biting cold temperatures.

“I wait all summer to get my snowmaking and grooming up and running to build our superpipe, and this year we are first to open the flood gates to our loyal riders. We are committed at Boreal, to providing the best parks and pipe, even if we have to stay up night after night to make it happen,” said Eric Rosenwald, Terrain Parks Manager at Boreal.

Groomed twice daily, once from 2 p.m. -6 p.m. and once overnight (weather permitting), so that skiers and riders can expect this signature feature be in top shape from 9am to 9pm.
